Greetings from Chicago

Evening folks!

So here I wait for my flight back to London. Not normally a special day to mention, except that last night was my last alcoholic drinks until this challenge is done.
I mentioned to some that I may have some drinks if the fitness gets to where I want. But with just less than three months to go, I'm not sure that will happen. I might be a bit hard on myself, but I feel. The discipline and goals need to be high, otherwise I feel I may let down a lot of sexy people who donated as well as myself.

Today I enjoyed a fried breakfast too. A flight can be long when you're hungry, and let's face it, airplane food is never great. And of course the hangover needed the attention. I didn't want to rule out a fried breakfast completely but I doubt my nutrition plan will allow it.

I took the opportunity to investigate the kit required for Kilimanjaro while I was here in the US. I am very much out of my depth with the different technology in the clothing options. I got some good advice from the sales assistant in the North Face store and found the jacket combinations which would work best. A nice 800tog down jacket which folds away into nothing (and looks sexy) with a gortex outer shell to keep it wind and waterproof. But with both totaling over $600, it was more than I can afford right now.

I was a little disappointed to have not made a start on the kit list, only to find that a lovely friend gave me an unexpected gift last night. Along with some advice I now have 2 pairs of thick wool socks, very suitable for the cold conditions and for the summit night. In addition, a thermal balaclavas and energy supplements. It was completely unexpected and it goes to show you how thoughtful and generous people can be. I count myself lucky to have great friends and their support.

Thanks a million!
