18 Days to GO! - The Kit has arrived!

Well, I have survived Christmas.  Ate some nice food, but nothing excessive and nothing with instant heart attack.  Only one pint of beer on Christmas eve and the rest was alcohol free.
Kept up with the training in the gym, but the number of miles walked per day has dropped.

Not long to go, and with a planned rest period before I fly, I anticipate a good 10 days of good walking.  Now if I go back to my regular commute, I'll get 60miles covered in the next two weeks.  So my challenge is to get 100miles covered in the next 14days.
Should be easily achievable if I go for a long walk at the weekends and take the long route home a few times.

I made use of Christmas sales and some well informed discount schemes and have bought the majority of the kit I'm going to need.
I still have a few items on the list, but these are mostly small items and comforts that are readily available in most places.

Yes, I've dramatised the background, because lets face it, this isn't the gear for lounging around your front room.  I've used one of my old hats here, but I got something  in the post which I'm hoping will increase the sexy levels, while actually adding more protection and practicality.

I am of course sporting the thermal balaclava gifted to me by one of my dear friends in Detroit... feels so warm and comfy!  I would love to wear it more often, but I fear I'll scare people walking in the park!

But all in all, this is pretty much my summit night gear in place.  Just need to fill the rucksack with a weeks worth of things I'll need.  Any tips are greatly appreciated!

I still want to get a practise weekend sorted... but the weather is so mild for this time of year and I just cant get the time (or hotel) to get somewhere colder in the UK... hmmm idea there I think! Will spend the evening looking at cheap flights to cold places!

It is still great to see that even with the fund raising target smashed, still people have donated and I'm often asked how things are going and supportive words.  But I'm still concerned if I've done enough training, and if I've bit off more than I can chew with this challenge.  Time will tell with this one...

Thanks for the support and thanks a million!
