I had my jabs, unfortunately after the forth injection I had some kind of reaction and it wiped me out completely. I had to remain at the doctors surgery for an hour while nurses kept observations on my blood pressure and heart rate. Whatever the cocktail of inoculations did, my blood pressure dropped and I nearly passed out. Had a weird hot flush and couldn't stop sweating. It seemed to regulate itself but I couldn't do anything energetic the whole day.
Then of course, the side effects kicked in... Not just the obvious dead arms, but each jab seemed to give me headache, fever and general feeling crappy for a week.
While that meant I missed out on 2 training sessions, I did head out to France and got one more big push on the fundraising front... Pleased to report that thanks to the generous clients who visited my mums cafe, we raised €230 which includes all donations from the raffle and quiz night.
I returned from France and hit the gym same day, had to make effort to catch up on training. And then straight back to work.
However, this week had a difference. I celebrated my graduation at long last. I never got the chance to go to university when I finished college and always wished I had. After 3 years of studying while holding down full time work I got it done. While my result is not great, it's still a result I'm proud of and I know if things were slightly different and if I could add the extra devotion studying deserves, I would have done well.
Unfortunately, I found myself unable to resist, and after near 6 Weeks (with only a couple of glasses) found myself on a three day Guinness trip. While not drinking the amounts I had been, and capable of, it was still far too much. Especially when I shouldn't have had any.
Well, it's out of my system now and back on to the training. Thankfully, the timing of this trip means I won't miss any training sessions. Although it will take a big effort to get over this almost 'red eye' flight followed by work and the journey home.
Thanks a million for all your support!
