First of all... thank you so much to everyone who made it.
There was a lot of reputation at risk and forever not knowing if people would come and whether I could actually get the night going.
When sizing up capacity and working out how much is reasonable to charge people, it was thought, get 100 people and we'd get £400. We got only got 60 people to come down, which was good enough to get a good atmosphere and have good times. However I was left thinking it would be lucky if we get £250 with that turnout.
Turns out, extra help from friends went a long way... from raffle prizes to collecting money and selling raffle tickets.... and behold, a grand total of £491.11 raised
On top of that, the justgiving.com/mulvey page also got some more donations... the total now is is over £2600 and that's a massive jump to 87% of the target raised so far... with 99 days to go!
I've up'd my walking distances on certain days and now walk up to 9miles going to work and back. I've got a route from the office, walking through 3 of London's parks and then taking the train from Baker Street. Then the usual 1.5 mile walk when I get off the train.
I've got support from a friend on a 63day cardio program, which we'll start October 24th and it should end nicely for Christmas. I'll be doing that in addition to any extra walking and training.
And on a dangerous note... got myself involved in a football match for charity this weekend, got to do my part for other fund raisers, especially as I now know how hard it can be. I've also been inspired to play rugby, which I feel may be a big mistake. Its been 10 years since my last game, and I don't remember it being a good one! We'll see.... I will have to be careful as I can't afford any injuries at this stage.
I've been to the doctor to get some tests, and then they'll decide which inoculations to give me for Africa... I'm thinking all of them! lol
Thanks all for now! Thanks a million everyone!
