My boots have failed... they were never really the right boot for this trip, but I think I would have been ok. Alas, yesterday I found the heels on both boots have come apart. Made worse as its also trapping water water.
Either way, having been worn in (about 600miles) I don't have the confidence in them.
So, an emergency visit to the store, and I'm now out of pocket by another £180. The next problem is... I'm three days away from flying, and I need to wear these boots in. If not, this journey is going to be painful. But, if these boots have a pressure point, I'm not really in a position to get more boots and break them in too.
I've done 9miles today. The right boot is perfect, the left is not. The bend for the toes when walking seems to dig in and cause discomfort, and after 9 miles the left ankle is not happy.
At least, the discomfort was easing by the time I got home. I'll have to adjust the laces to see if it helps and now resting the ankle... until tomorrow!

Apart from that... I think I've got all the kit I'm going to need. I'm now going through different permutations of packing my kit and deciding now what things I want easy access too. I keep going over my list and wondering if I have forgotten something. And then looking over my rucksack and wondering if I really need all the stuff I've packed!
Other than that, I'm pretty much ready to go. I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the group and getting over to Africa. I've checked out numerous video clips of summit climbs and Kilimanjaro visits on youtube and excited to make my mark on the top.
I'd like to take another moment to thank those who have donated, it was never an easy task to get to £3k, but to have got there before I've even gone, with more people still talking about donating and even donations hitting the website in the last few days. It really is amazing, and you guys are sexy!
