T-Minus 172 days - Been working on my press release

What do you think of the press release? Not going out until closer the time but all your comments will help me make it the best... Who knows... it might even get published!!

Climbing for Cancer Care
Mulvey versus Kilimanjaro

Sergeant Steve Mulvey (BTP) from L-Area Operations will attempt to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro in January 2012 in aid for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Not known for being at all athletic (in fact quite the opposite), Sergeant Mulvey claims “This is for family and friends affected by cancer. While many survive and still play a huge part in our lives, I’m driven by those close to me who didn’t win the battle, yet their memory still brings a tearful smile to my day.”

With so many people going to great efforts to raise money for charity, Sergeant Mulvey decided to do something which would stand out and make it an experience never to forget. “I could not think of a more worthy cause than supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care who provide service to those who need it most, and a personal challenge on my fitness (I don’t have any fitness!) to climb the highest mountain in Africa.”
Mount Kilimanjaro is in Tanzania and is the 4th highest peak in the world at 5,895m (19,340 feet). Steve is expected to spend on 6 days on Kilimanjaro attempting to reach the summit, with the hardest effort being a 16 hour trek through the night to reach the highest peak. Such climbs will experience all types of weather from tropical to below freezing and those attempting to reach the summit will have to battle Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) which can have potentially fatal consequences.

Steve has begun his preparations by joining a new gym, and you can follow his efforts on his blog at http://mulveyvkili.blogspot.com/. In addition, other fund raising events are planned to help hit this huge £3000 target. Every £20 raised will provide one hour of nursing care at home or in a Marie Curie Hospice.

Sponsoring Sergeant Mulvey can be made online at http://www.justgiving.com/mulvey/ or by sending a text to ‘70070’ with the code ‘MULV99’ and the amount.
For example ‘MULV99 £5’ will charge your phone £5 and all of it will go towards the £3000 target. You will then receive a reply telling you how to gift aid your donation and how to leave a personal message for him.

Users of iphone can also download the ‘justgiving’ app for free from the apps store!
